In this week's news...
So I got me a job last Friday at Macy's Galleria. Same day I go over to Queen of Peace to teach a little lesson so the principal could see me in action. She told me she liked the lesson, that everything went well and that she'll call me back after she got in touch with one more of my references. Friday passes and I get no call. I was beginning to feel dissapointed but I thought "Well it's friday, maybe it got late and she decided not to call anymore. Maybe she'll call Monday"
Monday was the second day in my spankin' new retail career when I get a call early in the morning from the principal at Queen of Peace asking me when I could come in to go over the contract and sign. =O Tuesday morning I go over and sign, get a tour of the school for the second time and Wednesday I start as a 1st grade teacher!! woot!!
Dave is a little indisposed these days, he caught some nasty bug somewhere (not me) and has been a little sick these past couple of days. I took care of him today, brought him some yummy vietnamese soup, got him some TheraFlu and is now resting so he can get better soon.

Finding "THE" Wedding dress....
One of the things I was dreading about the whole wedding planning was searching for the wedding dress. I've always had trouble looking for formal dresses and the thought of looking for a wedding dress was scary. So on Oct 25th I decided to go to some stores, look at dress styles, check prices, accessories and such.
My mom, Brenda and Dave's mom went with me. First we went to the reception hall so they could see what the place looks like, the location, setting. After that we went to Alfred Angelo and began looking at dresses. I had looked online and wrote down a few style numbers. I showed the consultant and she brought me some of the dresses I had on my list. I tried on about 5 or 6 dresses and liked a couple of them but I didn't want to make a decision since that was the first place we'd been to.
So then we went to David's Bridal, I registered to have a consultant help me, they gave me a catalog to choose some dresses I liked so the consultant could bring them out and after a while she brought a couple of dresses. I tried them on and didn't really like them. She brought a few others I had marked and then she brought one that at first I didn't like much. It wasn't like the styles I had seen or had wanted to try.
I tried it on and I wasn't too convinced at first, it felt kind of tight, it wasn't the style I thought I wanted. Then she brought me another size, a veil and I put on the slip and it looked better I was starting to like it a bit more. She kept fixing it, she lifted the train and it looked much prettier. I was actually loving it. It was THE dress! We were the last ones to leave the store but I came out with a dress!
These are some of the dress styles I liked, the ones I tried on were not these but looked similar :
I liked something not too fluffy.
Lace looks really pretty. I liked something like this.
Or something light and flowy like this one.
(No, none of these are my dress! mine's even prettier. ha!)

Wedding plans have begun

Yes it has begun. It all started one day last month...hahaha. Well, let's see...when does all the planning actually begin. The day you get engaged, when you first talk to the priest, when you set the date for the ceremony?
We got engaged on Jan 25th 2008. We talked to Fr. Vicente in April. Before that we had talked to Fr. Dan first so I guess he was one of the first persons to know. We set the date for Feb 14, 2009. I felt it was too rushed, there might be conflict with people being able to attend since it is Valentine's day, so it was decided to change the date for May 30, 2009. Just one day before our third anniversary since we began going out.
I had not idea what we were supposed to do next. I was fearing having to start looking for places for the receptions, vendors, invitations, decorations, dress...etc, etc. June passed, then July, August, September...time was flying by and we hadn't even started. I guess we also waited because we changed the date and had to make sure we were going to have that date before doing everything else.
So in October I began looking at venues for the reception. I thought "hotels have reception halls, so maybe I should look there first" and sure enough they have ballrooms but waaaay too expensive for our needs. I went to a ballroom not to far from St. Cecilia and what are the odds that just the exact same day I went to get info, there's a person already there talking about renting the hall for May 30th!!! horror!!! I'm getting a little freaked out that we won't have a place for the reception. So I look online and find a hall North of I-10, I go over and it is excellent! just what we needed, they give me a good price, I take Dave over to take a look at it and decide we'll take the place.
We signed the contract on Oct 24. We got a church, we got a reception hall.
Now the planning can begin!

Halloween 2008
Ha! how nice is that....It is November 1st, the beginning of the month, what a perfect time to start a blog. Well, I've never had a "blog" before so we'll see how this goes.
Halloween has come and gone and for some reason this year it was pretty uneventful. It really didn't feel like halloween at all. We had an evening meeting with a photography consultant from Bella Pictures then went to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack.
The consultation went pretty well I think, she showed us samples of their work and let's just say that we were very impressed.
